![]() It's really the same as loot generation, it works fine up to and including Insane and then something just stops working. DPS forms one half of the game, and if it's broken, it means half of the game is broken. Sadly, in terms of DPS, there is really nothing to shine a positive light upon. Like I have said before, a difference of 10-20% is acceptable, a difference of 100-300% is not. When a few classes give you BOTH top tank and top DPS, why should you be using anything else? Where is the choice? Currently, playing the select few classes feels pretty much like godmode compared to playing anyone else.īringing the DPS output and the HP of the underused classes in line with the top few is the least that can be done to give them a new life. ![]() They are disadvantaged in terms of tank, DPS output, or both, it is no wonder they are underused. Likewise, Monk is the one best capable of improving others and has benefited the most from pet buffs, there is no fear of him losing his standing any time soon.īut as for the other classes, they just don't have anything to stand for themselves as it is. Yeah, he has no towers, but to make up for that he has stances which are more than enough to ensure he will always have his place in DPS and either way, DPS are not there to build towers, they are there to kill things. I'm not saying he shouldn't be the best DPS, but that doesn't mean most of the remaining classes must look worthless in comparison, there is plenty of room inbetween. In my opinion it's because they were created from scratch and balanced for Nightmare, while the old classes have remained mostly unchanged since pre-Nightmare.Īs for Barbarian, he already has Turtle Stance which makes him nearly unkillable, there is no reason to have him outclass everyone else in HP as well. It's hard not to notice that the new DLC classes (Barbarian, EV, Jester) do roughly what the 'old' (original + genderswap) classes did as DPS (melee, ranged, upgrading/repairing), except they often do it better AND have more tank. And where is the place of Apprentice in there, who is one of the squishiest classes HP-wise yet needs to get into point blank range for full DPS? On top of that, considering there are no 'healers' in this game and everyone's self-healing capabilities are more or less the same, the 'tanks' are just too much at an advantage over 'non-tanks.' In my opinion there is no place in Nightmare for as large differences in HP as there are right now.īetween copters, djinns, spiders and ninjas, ranged characters aren't all that much safer from damage in most maps. Also the whole ranged thing ) Huntress can nuke monsters safely inside the Tower area, whereas Barbarian can not. A good Huntress can freely roam the map, though my personal favorite is body-blocking Ogres & Sharken. The only monsters not effected are Ninja and Spider. Piercing Shot definitely needs a separate buff, but Invisibility is still fun. As for Huntress, you have to consider her dps in combination with the 2 Abilities. Also the pet scaling on Monk is still out of whack. Monk's Hero Boost does need a reduction, but I think only for the caster, not for his allies. I'd follow it by a further slight buff to the Piercing Shot damage ramp, or perhaps adding a slight hero damage boost to Invisibility.īarbarian is meant to be a top dps, since he has no Towers, and melee should get extra hp. ![]() However, it's clearly a step in the right direction. Now the relevance of this fact is disputable, as the other two classes are more likely to use Apprentice staves for normal attacking (switching to Pawn Shot only for Proton Charge in the case of EV). If only the normal attack is taken into consideration, Huntress (and Ranger) is now clearly the best user of Huntress weapons. Overall, I'd say the results are interesting. No second weapon was equipped by Jester or Series EV.ġ2,361,851 DPS with normal attack (2,746,246 per hit).ġ4,893,045 DPS with Piercing Shot (27,039,012 per hit, plus a single weapon shot with the normal attack damage). On tavern dummies, using the same gear on each char. ![]()
